Worst Game… Ever?

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

We decided to go to the UVA vs. Western Michigan football game yesterday and it may have been the worst college football game I’ve ever seen. In fact, it may have been the worst game of any sport at any level that I’ve ever seen. Not only was UVA thinking of a guaranteed win when they scheduled Western Michigan, but they were thinking of a guaranteed win for Homecoming, the week when all the alumni come back. For those who haven’t followed college football in some time, alumi are the people the athletics department are hitting up for donations all the time. So, not only did UVA lose a game they should have easily won, but they did so on what could possibly be the worst weekend to do so.

And now UVA sits at 1-2 and those games that fans were chalking up as wins in hopes of a 6-6 season are starting to look like huge question marks. Those same fans likely saw the UVA vs. Wyoming game, in which, as our friend Margaret so eloquently put it, “UVA did not win the game. Wyoming lost the game.” UVA could easily, EASILY, be 0-3 right now and staring at the prospect of a winless season.

Personally, I imagine they’ll pull out some games and get a few more wins, but 4-8 is probably about the best I would predict them at after yesterday’s dismal “performance.”

We’re Going to Auburn!

FINALLY! I get to see some real SEC football again! I can’t wait!

We got tickets to the Auburn v. Arkansas game through Stubhub and we’re going to be sitting in Row 17 in Section 41 (Seating Chart; PDF), which means we’ll be right in the middle of the North end zone.

War Damn Eagle!
