Garden: What’s Bloomin’

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

The Stella d’Oro Daylilies have bloomed! Well, actually, there’s only a single bloom right now, but there are plenty more buds in sight, so I expect to see a flood of yellow within the next few days.

Overall, the garden is looking quite green and coming along very well. The Amsonia is still blooming well. The Spiderwort is taking over its spot in the garden. The Lamb’s Ear is getting really big and really fuzzy. The “Project” Irises all have foliage. Even the Oregano has returned! All that’s left, since the Irises likely won’t bloom this year, is the Garden Phlox blooms.

Book Finished: Marley and Me

Monday, May 28th, 2007

I’ve decided to keep track of the books I finished. I tend to forget what I’ve read when, so maybe this will help. I used to keep track of this a few years ago on my personal blog, but that blog no longer exists, so I’ll try again.

Yesterday, I finished Marley and Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog by John Grogan. Definitely worth the read for anybody who has ever owned a pet or known of “one of those dogs.”

The Amsonia’s blooming!!!

This is actually quite surprising because the Amsonia was the last plant to show any foliage. In fact, it was just a month ago that I was starting to get worried about whether or not the Amsonia would return. Not only has it returned, it’s the second plant in the garden to bloom!

Nonsensical Bumper Sticker

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

We were driving home last night when I saw the following bumper sticker:

BAN ILLEGAL ALIENS
NOT GUNS

Ignore the fact that the two topics have nothing to do with each other and ignore whatever beliefs you may have about the topics, but by my recollection, the term “illegal” means something is already “banned,” no?
